Speaker talks about Hay Group pay plan

Guam - The governor's Hay pay raise plan was the focus of Speaker Judi Won Pat's weekly address. She is encouraging the community to attend this Friday's public hearing on the plan scheduled for this Friday.  Although the Calvo Administration hopes to have the plan approved by Valentines Day, Won Pat says more information is needed.

"While the Administration has presented us with a list of new pay schedules, we have not been given an implementation plan, which details the policies and procedures for implementing these raises," she said.

The speaker adds the legislature needs a breakdown of how much the Hay raises will cost each agency in every coming budget cycle to provide for the wages. She says with the information, the Legislature cannot determine whether there will be a budget shortfall in agencies like the Department of Education for example. The public hearing on the governor's plan is scheduled for 1 in the afternoon in the Legislature's Public Hearing Room.
