Guam - For the first time in nine years, the Guam Fire Department welcomed a new cycle of firefighters who graduated today.  The members of the 20th Fire Cycle were sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice F. Philip Carbullido and promoted to the rank of Firefighter I.  The 26 firefighters have undergone intense academic and on the job training for more than 6 months.

Acting Governor Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio announced, "You 26 young men who are just entering your public safety career, Governor Calvo and this entire island is supportive of you and above all else, serve your career admirably."

The firefighters were given their assignments to fire stations around the island which will help with the department's personnel shortages.
