Respicio wants progress report on Untalan renovations

Guam - Senator Rory Respicio is looking for a progress report on renovations to Untalan Middle School in Barrigada.

In a letter addressed to DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez today, Respicio requests a walkthrough inspection of the worksite noting that in the past, DOE has been shortchanged by construction contracts that call for compressed deadlines. He adds that because there's a rush to outfit a new central high at CoreTech in Tiyan, there may be a premature return of ums students who currently use the facility as an interim campus.

DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez tells KUAM he welcomes eyes and ears on the project and will schedule a walkthrough for all interested parties.

As we've been reporting, renovations to ums are scheduled for completion in the summer months in time for School Year 2014-2015.
