Guam - After receiving a letter from a young girl named Ha'ani Losongco whose father is part of the 600 Guardsmen deployed to Afghanistan and on their way back home, First Lady Christine Calvo has decided to extend the Guma I Taotao Peace Festival Christmas lights display.

As Calvo tells KUAM News, it was an easy decision as Ha'ani's request reflects the purpose of the Peace Festival, saying, "It was to have peace in our world. Have peace on our island and peace within ourselves. During the Christmas season I find that with the novena of the Christ child and I just wanted to spread the message of the story of Jesus."

Ha'ani asked that the First Lady extend the lights display until all the soldiers come home, including her dad.

The lights will now stay on until January 19 at the Government House with visits inside the house open on Saturday nights.
