Two die in separate incidents at sea

by Mindy Aguon

Guam - The island's waters claimed the life of two people over the weekend. A man drowned while swimming off the waters off Marbo Cave. According to Guam Fire Department spokesperson Lieutenant Ed Artero, GFD received the report just before five o'clock Saturday.

Medics had performed CPR en route, unfortunately the swimmer did not survive. His name has not yet been released.

As for the second incident, a man has only been identified as a service member stationed at Andersen Air Force Base. The 19-year-old was spearfishing but apparently experienced a problem while swimming. A search began last night after he didn't return to shore.

The service member's body was recovered this morning in the waters off Agat. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.  His name is being withheld until after his family is notified.
