Guam - It's a great start to a New Year as the last of the Guam Army National Guard soldiers assigned to the 1-294th Infantry Regiment arrived at Camp Shelby, Mississippi from deployment to Afghanistan on New Year's Day. This last wave of soldiers will begin the eleven-day demobilization process as over 100 soldiers are waiting anxiously for their travel arrangements to be finalized. As we reported close to 600 soldiers were deployed to Afghanistan for a nine-month tour in support of operation enduring freedom. We should note that over 30 additional Guam Guardsmen and women who are different units are still in Afghanistan.
