Junior Statesmen of America spreads holiday cheer

by Krystal Paco

Guam - With Christmas just days away, students of Harvest Christian Academy Junior Statesman of American Chapter are doing their part to spread the holiday spirit to our island's elderly at the Tamuning Senior Citizen Center.

HCA senior Anthony Lamorena said, "This experience I wasn't sure coming into it but they've been great. We're not really strong singers but they're not afraid to come up and help us and teach us how to sing correctly."

The group also visited the Guam Memorial Hospital pediatric ward, where they distributed stuffed animals.

Lamorena says the Junior Statesman of America Chapter was popular a decade ago, but has since dwindled. Hoping to bring it back, Lamorena says the HCA chapter will be doing similar leadership events year round in conjunction with other schools and organizations.
