Guam - In a letter addressed to Governor Eddie Calvo, Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez requests an update on the Tiyan lease agreement.
Dated Tuesday, December 17, Fernandez notes that it was earlier this year when he asked that the lease for the Tiyan property be used for a central high school as a result of the overcrowding at George Washington High School.
Seeing as the governor has committed to addressing the Guahan Academy Charter School buildings by December 31, 2013, Fernandez requests the same consideration for the 2,600 students who attend GW and currently struggle with overcrowding at their Mangilao campus.
Fernandez also requests for more updates relative to DOE Central's relocation from the Hagatna building to the CoreTech facility in Tiyan. He notes that DOE has provided the Governor's Office with square footage needs as well as the number of employees.
