Guam - At the Guam Legislature this morning Bill 222 went up for a public hearing. The measure would protect the identity of minors convicted of crimes involving criminal sexual conduct. Although their names would be placed into the sex offender registry it would not be available to the public

Assistant Attorney General Carol Sanchez said, "Our office fully supports this legislation we believe this is necessary we want to ensure that Guam remains in compliance with the federal mandates. We think that it's a plus because it does provide that extra protection for juveniles. I know it's always been a concern for the courts and defense attorneys but this is an actually an enhanced protection for their client to ensure that they are not placed in the public registry."
