CCU approves GPA petition to adjust LEAC

Posted: Updated:

Guam - During a regular meeting of the Consolidated Commission on Utilities (CCU) this evening, Commissioners approved the Authority request to petition the Public Utilities Commission for their approval to adjust the Levelized Energy Adjustment Clause (LEAC) or Fuel Recovery Surcharge on your monthly billing.

"The petition reflects a decrease of approximately 1.08 percent on the overall residential customer bill," stated Joaquin C. Flores, P.E. General Manager, "This means that a residential consumption of 1000 kwh will see decrease of $2.90 to that customer's monthly bill effective 1 February 2014."

This lastest petition follows an announcement made in June for a LEAC decrease of approximately 6.6 percent on the overall residential customer bill effective August 2013. That decrease reflected on residential consumption of 1000 kwh of $19.21 to that customer's monthly bill for the last quarter of this year.

"We are happy to make this announcement to our customers – it is a welcomed relief from high fuel oil prices," remarked Flores, "GPA will continue to look and evaluate any opportunity to reduce our operating costs so that any savings can be passed on to our customers."
