Guam - Checks are available for farmers who suffered crop damage as a result of recent heavy rains. According to a press release from Adelup, farmers who processed their loss claims and qualified for assistance can now pick up their checks at the Treasurer of Guam, located on the first floor of the ITC building. The office will remain open until 6 o'clock tonight to disburse checks.
"Today, I'm proud to announce that the money we pledge to assist farmers is ready to be paid. Our commitment is clear: we promised to help our farmers, and we are keeping this promise," said Governor Eddie Baza Calvo. The press release went on to state that so far, 34 local farmers have filed claims totaling $135,998.55 in lost or damaged crops. Farmers anticipating grants should call the Department of Agriculture at 300-7970 to check whether they have one.
