Guam - Guam Animal In Need is known for accepting animals that are no longer wanted, found wondering the streets of Guam or cannot be cared for by their owners but Thursday morning it was discovered that five dogs being housed had been stolen.

Shelter manager Bambi Leoni told KUAM News, "I am hoping it's not for dog fighting possibly maybe for the pity but I am thinking I really don't know I don't know why anyone would steal an animal but maybe just to sell for money you know, 'cause they picked some purebreds."

Three adult dogs and two puppies were stolen, and according to Leoni it may have been by someone who has knowledge of GAIN's security system as the culprit was able to avoid setting off the shelter's alarms. She adds, this is not the first time animals have been stolen but had hoped the security measures that were taken would be a deterrence.
