Guam - Despite a previous announcement to temporarily shut down Simon Sanchez high school and implement a double session with neighbor school FB Leon Guerrero middle school, the department of education announces a change of plans.
This follows an inspection by regulatory agencies on Saturday morning who deemed the yigo campus structurally sound. Despite the good news, agencies were able to identify deficiencies throughout the campus, including the need to replace ceiling tiles, ensuring safety of electrical outlets and boxes, and verifying proper fire extinguisher placements.
These issues will be addressed on Friday, November 22nd when the school will be closed to allow for completion of maintenance work. School will resume as usual with the exception of this day.
Students and staff will also be asked to address school based responsibilities for general housekeeping in offices and in respective instructional areas.
