GFD responds to fire at condominium project
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Arson investigators were called to a report of a fire that broke out at the site of the Emerald Ocean View Park Condominium project located near the Guam Memorial Hospital in Tamuning. According to Guam Fire Department spokesperson Lieutenant Phil Camacho the report was made just before two o'clock this afternoon about a fire on the 12th floor of one the structures.
Camacho adds workers were welding when sparks caused some of the construction material to ignite. Fire investigators also cited the company for not having the proper permit for the work they were doing. The project was stalled due a legal challenge but was expected to start back up this year.
KUAM News was unable to speak with a Younex Corporation representative. Meanwhile, GFD does not have a high rise truck and therefore had to connect hoses to get water to the 12th floor.
