Senators consider Bill 181

Guam - On session floor today lawmakers took up discussion on Bill 181 introduced by Senators Tom Ada and Rory Respicio. The legislation is a bond borrowing measure for the Guam Waterworks Authority, with Ada saying, "Seeks authorization for Guam Water Works Authority to go to the bond market to borrow up to 495 million dollars to continue with capital improvements projects."

Senator Ada says that the $495 million GWA is seeking is to comply with court stipulated orders and the federal Clean Water Act. The proceeds would be used to bring  all three southern waste water treatment plants into compliance, repair and rebuild all GWA water storage tanks and replace leaking water lines upgrade water booster pumps and drill new wells. 

Session resumes tomorrow morning at nine oclock.
