Guam - It's still a few months away until the island's servicemen and women return from deployment overseas, but they'll soon be getting a piece of home thanks to the administration and several community partners.
Project Minagof, an initiative with the Lieutenant Governor's Office in collaboration with the Works Foundation will be shipping off 616 care packages featuring some island favorites such as Spam, Chamorro Cookies, Tabasco, shirts and Uno Magazine. "But all these things make a difference in trying to provide what Project Minagof is really about which is really caring, a feeling of joy, that is what Minagof means, a joyous feeling you get when you know someone somewhere else in the world is there to support you because you're defending our nation," said Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio.
Over two dozen business and community partners donated many of the items who also helped with shipping costs which total $10,000. The packages are set to arrive to our troops in Afghanistan in time for Thanksgiving.
