Guam - Settlement discussions are underway in local business James Adkins' case against several police officers.

Adkins recently filed an amended complaint against several police officers who he alleges violated his civil and constitutional rights.  He is suing the officers in their individual capacity.

The suit challenges the wrongful arrest, detention and incarceration of Adkins who had used his cell phone to

Take photos of a car crash near his home.  The cell phone was confiscated and while in GPD custody had been tampered with as all photos had been removed from Adkins' phone.

A notice filed by District Court Magistrate Judge Joaquin Manibusan indicates that a settlement conference was held on Tuesday.  The court will set the matter for a continued settlement conference at a later date if notified by the parties.
