GEC shown interest to provide new equipment

Guam - It was late last month when the Guam Election Commission made a callout to interested off-island vendors to provide new election equipment. And according to GEC executive director Maria Pangelinan, just as today marks the deadline for submissions, the GEC has since received more than one letter of interest in the past few days.

"With the letters of interests we know more information as to what's available for Guam out there - the big question is are they willing to come and service us here on Guam, we're so far away and our elections are the same time as the elections throughout the nation," she said.

The notice specifically requests for interested vendors to render service and to sell or lease equipment to the GEC. The notice was sent to five vendors that have federally certified equipment. The names of the interested vendors will be revealed at the GEC's regular meeting this Wednesday at 5:34pm.
