Guam - Following last night's GMH board of trustees meeting, the Administration released $1.2 million today to assist GMH with making payroll.
But with two paydays left for the present fiscal year, a release states that a legislative solution is imperative.
The release follows a meeting between Governor Eddie Calvo and Senators Tony Ada and Brant McCreadie who attended last night's GMH meeting. Both senators have expressed concern that the budget would pass without addressing GMH.
McCreadie states "The Legislature wouldn't fund the solution, so we had to go the governor to see what he could squeeze out."
Although more funds are available to assist the hospital, the release adds that the governor has no legal authority to spend that cash on GMH until the legislature makes the appropriation, which must be backed out of either another appropriation or funded by new revenue.
