Session Called for Today

by Sabrina Salas Matanane

Guam -

Speaker Judi Won Pat has called senators into a session for 11:00am this morning. Staff at her office confirm senators will be discussing the budget for next fiscal year. KUAM has contacted the Office of Finance and Budget as well as the Legislature's Clerk Office requesting a copy of the latest iteration of the budget. The Clerk's office told KUAM the new budget was still being processes.

KUAM sources provided us a copy of the draft budget bill that will be discussed during session. It was drafted by Committee Chair on Appropriations Senator Ben  Pangelinan.

Lawmakers passed a budget last week but it was vetoed. Last Friday they attempted an override but that failed. The Democrat majority  also on Friday did not pass a new budget sent down by the Governor.
