Guam - District Court of Guam Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood has given the green light to federal receiver Gershman Brickner & Bratton to move forward with its Islandwide Curbside Recycling Program. GBB began offering a pilot program in 2011 to test curbside recycling with 1,000 Guam Solid Waste Authority customers.

GBB is now hoping to implement the program by the end of the year.  As part of the program trash collections are expected to move from five to four days a week from Monday to Thursday. Trash collection routes will also shrink from seven to six to allow the extra truck and crew to begin collecting recycling at the beginning rather than the end of the shift.

And finally GSWA employees regular workday will move from its current 8 hours to ten hours a day or a four day 10-hour work week.  We should add GBB maintains they will be able to cost-effectively implement islandwide recycling without increasing rates, additionally customers will not be charged any additional fee for the service.
