Beware of jury scam

by Jolene Toves

Guam - The District Court of Guam warns the public about a jury scam that targets people by phone call and threatening them with prosecution for failing to comply with jury service in federal or state courts. The scam reportedly is occurring in various parts of the country.

The perpetrators coerce the victims into providing confidential data, which could lead to identity theft. These are not real court officials as they do not require anyone to provide sensitive information in a telephone call.

If you've received a phone call like this you are urged to notify the Clerk OF Court's Office at 473-9100.
