Guam - The new hospital in Dededo is another step closer to completion.

At today's topping off ceremony, Guam Regional Medical City representatives marked another milestone in the construction phase of the hospital expected to be completed in the summer of 2014.

GRMC president and CEO Margaret Bengzon said, "It marks the movement from the external structure to the interiors. And like I said it's the more challenging part of the construction but it's also the more engaging part of the construction."

Speaking of interiors, local artist Judy Flores was awarded a $70,000 commission to do the artwork for the hospital lobby depicting the theme "Where Patients Are Partners."

All finalists in the art competition will also have their works displayed on walls throughout the new hospital, from the chapel to the pediatric ward and the chemotherapy unit.
