Bill converts Umatac school into museum

by Ken Quintanilla

Guam - What used to be the old F.Q. Sanchez Elementary School down in Umatac could be converted into a museum with the help of Bill 159. Co-author Senator Tommy Morrison says the legislation serves to assist the Humatak Community Foundation with developing the Humatak Heritage Village Museum.

He told KUAM News, "We want to protect or preserve a treasure of our rich culture, history, traditions in Humatak and ensure that this place serves as a center of sharing information of the history of Humatak not only for the people of Humatak but throughout our island. From there, also embrace making the entire village a museum."

The bill would allow for an appropriation of $50,000 from the Tourist Attraction Fund to the Guam Visitors Bureau for the museum.
