Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo along with CNMI congressman Gregorio Kilili Sablan and U.S. Air Force chief of staff General Mark Welsh III laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate the island's liberation and the battle for the Northern Mariana Islands. Also attending the ceremony was Chairman Jeff Miller of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs; as well as First Lady Christine Calvo. Bordallo comments: "We observe this important holiday to honor the memory of these men and women to ensure their stories, hardships, service and sacrifice are never forgotten. With many of Guam's sons and daughters serving overseas and in harm's way, we continue to be mindful of the high cost of freedom."
