Guam - For the first time, Guam residents will be treated to an opportunity to view some of the greatest works of art without having to pay a fortune or travel thousands of miles abroad. Assisting with collaboration along with the Rotary Club of Northern Guam is Roberto Fracassini, the honorary vice-consul of Italy.

He told KUAM News, "Basically, 2013 is being declared 'The Year of Italian Culture' in the United States, so I was informed by the Italian Embassy in Washington to do something to promote Italian culture here."

The Hitachi Company of Japan in collaboration with the University of Florence and the Centrica Firm of Florence, Italy have come together to offer a unique experience and presentation of the traveling museum, The Uffizi Gallery. This is the first time outside of Japan that the traveling museum will showcase life size replicas, touch screen navigation of art pieces and a digital theatre allowing viewers to see the paintings like never before. It will feature works by Italian art masters Da Vinci, Botticelli Raffaello, Caravaggio, and other Italian renaissance artists.

In preparation for this monumental event taking place in October, a cocktail reception will take place tonight at the Hilton Resort Gallery in Tumon.
