Guam - The stars will no longer shine at the island's only planetarium as University of Guam director of integrated marketing communications Jonas Macapinlac tells KUAM, the planetarium held it's last showings last week.
With closure on schedule for June 30th, the summer months will be used to convert the space into additional classrooms.
Macapinlac says UOG's decision to close the long-standing stargazing site came with an evaluation of the university and its mission. Unfortunately, the planetarium doesn't align with any academic programs.
Meanwhile, island leaders continue to look for alternative sites to house the planetarium.
