GUAM - A special meeting has been called for tomorrow for the Guam International Airport Authority board of directors.
The only item on the agenda is the specialty retail concession contract that was awarded to Lotte.
Board members are scheduled to discuss the claims, protests and litigation that have been filed over the award. It is expected that board members will do much of their discussion in executive session because it involves litigation.
As we reported Lotte Duty Free Guam was awarded the contract but DFS has filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court and filed a protest with the public auditor. DFS was already given notice of a transition period and to move out of the airport's Duty Free concession space in the concourse by July 14th.
The lawsuit is currently assigned to presiding Judge Alberto Lamorena and there have been two applications for off island attorneys to be allowed to work on the case on Guam. No hearing has been scheduled at this time.
The special board meeting is scheduled for three o'clock on Tuesday afternoon.
