Guam - The Port Authority of Guam board of directors is short of a few members following the expiration of two of its members terms with more to follow in the next month. Port board chair Dan Tydingco says the attorney general's recent opinion on the board's director terms indicated that two of the current five directors are immediately affected with Ed Ilao's term expiring back in 2011 and Mike Benito's term expiring yesterday.
Tydingco said, "The Governor's Office is synced up and teed up with this and they're doing the proper vetting and trying to make the determination as to who else they may want to nominate or whether or not they want to re-nominate us at all or whether or not any of us or current incumbents want to continue sitting in that capacity anymore."
Tydingco says Adelup has already re-nominated Ilao, whereas Benito's will be made shortly. He and director Shelly Gibson's terms meanwhile expires on June 30. Tydingco says the board still meets the base minimum requirement for quorum as he, Gibson and vice chair Christine Baleto are still active. He adds Ilao and Benito will not be participating in the board's meeting next week Tuesday but are welcome to join, listen and observe.
