Guam - In honor of our island's man'amko a resolution declaring May as Senior Citizens Month was presented by Senator Dennis Rodriguez at Hyatt this morning, celebrating our manamko'. And celebrate they did.

The event is a result of a culminated effort sponsored by the Guam Legislature, planning the event for the last four months is coordinator Vince Arriola.  "Every single senior citizen center has representation here we've got over 500 attendees including senior citizen managers and so it's a wonderful event you know this is their day this is their day this is their month to come out and we honor them," he said.

Senator Rodriguez also recognized those who assist our island's senior citizens, saying, "The resolution recognizes acknowledging service providers, Public Health's Division of Senior Citizens, the people who take care of our manamko. A lot of times some of these organizations and especially our government organizations are experiencing a lot of challenging financial times."

Senator Rodriguez adds that it is these individuals and groups that put together and make sure the care and services provided to manamko are not interrupted.
