Guam - The 2013 Pentathlon swimming event will be taking place this Saturday at the Hagatna Pool. Swimmers from other islands in Micronesia and the Philippines have been invited to take part in the competition along with competitors from Japan, Australia and Hong Kong hopefully making the trip to compete. The Pentathlon will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with 5 different events lined up. Participants in age groups from 12 years to adults will swim in the 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 100m breast stroke, 100m freestyle, and 200m individual medley to determine the best all-around swimmer in the region.

Swimmers must compete in all 5 events in order to qualify for the Pentathlon champion. This year's competition is hosted by the Guam Swimming Federation which is a non-profit organization responsible for developing and preparing our young swimmers for international competitions such as the Pacific Games, the World Championships and the Olympics.

The Pentathlon will also feature an exhibition of Guam's own Olympic Swimmer Chris Duenas.
