Guam - The U14 Junior Challenge volleyball tournament hosted by the Guam Volleyball Federation is scheduled for May 4th and 5th and the Guam Sports Complex Gym in Dededo. With the help of the Take Care Foundation and the Federation International de Volleyball our youth will get a chance to better their skills and get more time on the court.

Sandra Low, GVBF President, told KUAM Sports, "Right now we have 9 girl's teams and 8 boy's teams for a total of 17 coming from 4 different public schools and 4 different private schools. The genesis of this project was part of our strategic plan to do more for the middle school age players. We wanted to engage them in activities that would promote their level of volleyball."

Teams will be playing only 1 set to 25 win by 2 cap 27.  The top team from each pool will advance to the championship round and play 2 out of 3 first two sets to 25 win by 2 cap 27 and the third set is to 15 win by 2 cap 17.

Low added, "Part of our program besides engaging the kids we are also equipping the coaches at the middle school level with balls and we have courses coming up for them to refresh their coaching skills. This all helps create a pool of players that will be ready for the high school level and eventually up to our national team. So in all it's trying to groom these younger players to be ready for the next level. We encourage everyone to come out and support their teams and it is also a fundraiser for our Team Guam so they will be hosting a concession stand. So if anything come by and support our team."
