Guam - The Special Olympics Guam Committee announces the 37th Annual Track and Field Event. This year's 2013 Special Olympics Track and Field event will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Okkodo High School in Dededo. Opening Ceremony starts at 8am. The Special Olympics Guam (SOG) is a non-profit organization dedicated in providing sporting opportunities for people with intellectual disability and the equality of opportunity for all our athletes regardless of ability or degree of disability since 1976.
Frank Florig with Special Olympics Guam said, "The events that we are having for the Track and Field would be the standard 50-yard dash, 100-yard dash, and 200-yard dash. We will also have the assisted walk, the assisted walk would be 10-yards, 40-meter and I believe it's up to 100-meters. We would also have the softball throw which is a really popular. Almost all of the athletes will be participating in that particular event. We will have the shot put event along with the running and standing long jump events. And then to end the day we will have the 4, 40-teams relays."
