Guam - The Mayors Council of Guam is currently reviewing draft legislation that would put limits to panhandling. At today's council meeting, Sinajana mayor Robert Hoffman requested his peers review the draft legislation, introduced by Senator Tina Muna Barnes and co-sponsored by Senator Brant McCreadie.

Hoffman said, "It does take in to consideration all of our concerns where they actually panhandle, where people solicit money from - roadside stopping motorists ideal situation - safety for everybody. We understand that families are hurting and in need but there are other ways to do this."

Hoffman maintains the legislation doesn't impose on a person's rights. Once reviewed, he hopes the MCOG will pass a resolution in support of the bill in time for legislative session in April.
