Guam - Last Friday a surprise drug sweep took place at the Upper
Tumon facility of the Guam Waterworks Authority. According to GWA general
manager Martin Rousch, he requested the assistance of Customs and Quarantine
officers and the Canine Unit to conduct a random sweep of the facility. He
tells KUAM News that it was in partnership with Guam Police and was prompted
strictly as a proactive step in ensuring that employees are not using illegal
substances relative to following the Consolidated Commission on Utilities' zero
tolerance policy.
While GWA spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf confirmed the arrest of
two employees on Friday following the raid, Rousch says he could not divulge
specific details only saying two employees instead were detained by GPD with a
third strictly refereed as an administrative process to its human resources
department.
He adds no drugs were found on the premises as a result of the
drug sweep.
