Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo is congratulating the leadership of
the Guam Legislature for moving forward with a drug-free workplace policy. A
draft policy is currently under review by the Guam Legislature's legal counsel
and includes requirements such as drug tests as a condition of employment and
random drug testing through the legislative term.
"I think it's important for all positions of leadership to
set up role models for this community, so it's important that it's happening
and I'm in full support," he expressed. "At the same time with our
administration, this has been ongoing but we need to expand on it, so I've been
working with our fiscal team trying to find the proper funding and we also
anticipate an expansion of testing for all GovGuam workers."
The Guam Legislature's executive director Vince Arriola was tasked
with creating the draft policy and says legal review should be completed
sometime next week. He adds the policy is about two pages in length and mirrors
the standard GovGuam policy.
