Guam - In chess news the Guam Chess Federation is hosting
international players at the Guam Plaza and Bayview Hotel for the Guam
International Open Chess Tournament. Here's Guam Echecs President Leon Ryan said,
"We are hosting the 2013 Guam International Open Chess Tournament at the
Bayview Hotel for 5 days.
"We have 26 competitors, 12 of those are foreign players from
England, Australia, Poland, Palau, Taiwan and South Korea and we have 14 local
players competing. We have an international chess master Jacek Stopa from
Poland and a candidate master from England Christopher Briscoe. The players of
this tournament will of course eventually be ranked by FIDE. This tournament is
sanctioned by the world chess body FIDE."
