Guam - Island Twisters will be sending 6 gymnasts to Hawaii for competition. Two of the six girls have already competed in the event and will be leading the rest of the team as they prepare for the upcoming competition.

Derrick Heath with Island Twisters told KUAM Sports, "Island Twisters will be taking 6 girls off island this year. We have 2 returnees Aisha Tangi and Olivia Ferguson. And we have 4 first time girls going. Reyna White, Abrielle Slater, Alaria Williams Duenas and Teagan Tilbert. They will be representing Team Guam in Hawaii at the Aloha Gym Fest January 18th through January 21st. Everybody is welcomed to come down to the Island Twisters Gym to help. We are having a raffle and bake sale every day from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and you can come down and donate and watch the kids perform their routines and support Island Twisters Guam, Team Guam."

Making her return to the competition will be veteran gymnast Aisha Tangi who wasn't able to compete due to an injury she suffered last year.

Tangi, a Level 7 Gymnast, said, "This is going to be my 3rd time going to Hawaii but my second time competing. Last year because I dislocated my ankle I wasn't able to compete so this year I'm really looking forward to actually being able to show the other countries my level 7 skills and being able to show them how hard I've worked after working about 19 hours a week, 4 weeks before competition. It's been really intense and it's leading up to this and I'm really excited."

First-time competitor White is excited for the event and already has big goals set in mind, saying, "This is my first year competing in Hawaii and I hope I get around 1st place or 3rd place and I look forward to going to the competition and meeting other people from around the world. And I want to go to the Olympics and represent Guam and my goal is to get a standing back tuck before Aisha on the beam."
