Guam - A Guam Olympian is in need of our votes. 16-year-old Ben Schulte may have placed last in the 10k open water competition of the London Olympics earlier this year, but his determination to finish proved him a true Olympian and garnered him a nomination for the World Open Water Swimming Association's Man of the Year award.

His mother, Lou Aguon Schulte, asks the island to support her son, who is currently preparing to compete in 11 events in the Queensland State Championships in Brisbane next week. "It's important for the community of Guam to stand behind their representative cast their vote online anytime now but no later than December 31," she said.

To vote, visit the WOWSA Man of the Year Nominees page.
