Guam - President Barack Obama has appointed University of Guam
president Dr. Robert Underwood to the board of directors of the National Board for
Education Sciences. According to the White House, Obama says "I am pleased to
announce that these experienced and committed individuals have agreed to join
this administration, and i look forward to working with them in the months and
years ahead."
Dr. Underwood has served as member of the board since 2011. In
2004 to 2007 he served as chair of the board of directors of the Asian Pacific
Islander American Scholarship Fund.
Underwood says, ""Serving on the NBES allows us the
opportunity to affect the research agenda of the U.S. Department of Education.
I enjoyed my brief tenure in the past and look forward to being of service to
education in the future."
