Guam - The Department of Education
has $20.6 million reasons to be thankful today. The U.S. Department of Education
awarded consolidated grant funding. The money will go to support local
education reform efforts, providing a continuing source of innovative and
educational improvement, implementing programs meeting the educational needs of
all students including at-risk youth, as well as the implementation of
education programs to improve school, student and teacher performance.
Superintendent Jon Fernandez says through the grant, DOE will be
able to address the needs of their students by promoting effective teaching,
involving parents and families and strengthening curriculum and assessment.
