Guam - The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended a local fugitive in Dededo this afternoon but not before he put up a fight. Roque Mantanona allegedly held a child at knifepoint when he saw marshals approaching the home along Chichirica Street in Dededo this afternoon.

The fugitive allegedly made threats to kill the child if authorities made attempts to arrest him. Taotao'mona Fugitive Task Force members were able to convince him to drop the knife and release the child and he was apprehended.

Mantanona has a long criminal background and is wanted on an outstanding warrant for a felony burglary charge.

He is now behind bars awaiting a court hearing and could face additional charges for today's actions.
