Guam - After repeated
requests from Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz, the Office of Public Accountability has started
an audit on the qualifying certificate program. Public Auditor Doris Flores
Brooks says her office does not comment on audits while in progress, but she
confirms that the process began last week and that she's already met with the
Guam Economic Development Authority.
The vice speaker meanwhile has since provided the public auditor
with an analysis of the QC program from the University of Guam, along with
contracts and compliance reports from GEDA to aid in the process. Brooks couldn't say when the audit would be completed
but says on average a typical audit can take anywhere from six to nine months.
