Guam - Keeping with their
tradition of giving back to the community, Quality Distributors made a huge
donation to the Salvation Army today that will help make this year's annual
Thanksgiving Day lunch possible. The donation given today includes 60 pounds of
ham and 10 turkeys as well as hundreds of other items such as rice, flour, and
canned goods that will go toward holiday food bags given to the needy.
Quality Distributors assistant general manager Ed Lai made the
presentation to Salvation Army Captain Michael Lutcher this afternoon. Lai
said, "It's something we generally do before the holiday season - we
believe it's important to give back to the less fortunate during this time."
and Lutcher added, "When a donor is able to give this much food and their
time and the employee time just to come and give this to the salvation army actually
not just salvation army they're giving it to the people of Guam, and using the
salvation army for us to hand it out to the community and sometimes it just
brings tears to your eyes."
With today's donation, the organization is confident it will be
able to have an adequate number of good bags that will be distributed at Thursday's
16th annual Thanksgiving Feast at Chamorro
Village.
