Committee chair Senator Adolpho Palacios says he's not surprised with the
indictment and the arrests of the officers.
The Democrat lawmaker and former police officer expressed disappointment
though that the police department had to be forced into action. Palacios wants there to be further
investigation though as he believes higher ranking officers knew about what was
going on at the blue house and were involved in a cover up.
"So the investigation should continue not just the direct
involvement by police officers in the promoting and abetting all this
criminality but also in people responsible in higher ups that actually should
see this through. I cannot believe when it started in 2008 when media report
that nothing happened out of that internal investigation," he said.
Palacios adds the arrests of the officers show a complete abuse of
public trust and the badge. He says he
wouldn't be surprised if there are more arrests in the future.
