Guam - In January the Guam
Waterworks Authority will start installing water meters to all Tiyan landowners
who currently pay a flat fee close to $70 a month. GWA spokesperson Heidi
Ballendorf says this is good news as there may have been water lost from not
accounting for these homes.
"Of course, revenue is always an issue," she noted,
"but I think another big issue for us is water loss and not accounting for
the water that's being used I think that's really important that we account for
all of our water."
The agency has already contacted over 100 Tiyan homeowners about
the meter installation program and are inviting them to a open house on December
5 at the Barrigada
Community Center to meet
the engineer and operations crew that will be responsible for the project. Tiyan homeowners will not be charged for the
meters themselves.
