Guam - Guam Election
Commission executive director Maria Pangelinan says she's open to election
reform and is willing to answer any questions lawmakers may have. "It is
needed," she said. "There were some quirks that need to be updated in
terms of the law and maybe with another election passed maybe there's still a
little bit fine tuning to the Election Reform Bill."
For example, she hopes such legislation could address the
challenges the GEC experienced relative to hiring precinct officials and the
possibility of increasing their monetary compensation for the long hours
required of such position. The GEC meanwhile will be meeting Thursday to
address several of the administrative issues and complaints filed last week
regarding the general election.
