Guam - We honor the thousands of men and women who through the decades have fought and continue to fight for our countries freedom. In their honor, a special Veterans Day ceremony was held at the Ricardo J. Bordallo Governor's Complex in Adelup Sunday morning. The event kicked-off with F-22s flying over the ceremony, and continued with a special territorial wreath laying and recognition for the island's veterans' of the year.
Joint Region Marianas Rear Admiral Tilghman Payne said, "It's ceremonies like this and others like it on other cities and us bases around the world that begin to put our words into action...it's important that we celebrate and never forget those willing to serve, fight and make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our nation and the liberty's and freedom we hold so dear."
A moment of silence was also held for the late veteran and Harley Davidson store owner Arthur "Bill" Nielsen, Jr.
