Guam - Four people were taken to Naval
Hospital this morning after being
stranded at Sigua
Falls for nearly ten
hours. According to Guam Fire Department spokesperson Phil Camacho, rescue
units got the 911 call at 9:54 pm last night that four hikers were stranded at Sigua Falls.
The Coast Guard was called in to assist and emergency responders had an open
line of communication with the group.
The rescue commander had to temporarily suspend the search around
4 this morning until daylight. But Camacho says units remained on scene despite
the terrain, overgrown vegetation and poor visibility making it difficult to
access the hikers. At 7am, rescue units reached the hikers and a helicopter transported
the group to Naval Hospital in Agana Heights.
No injuries were reported.
