Guam - As the nation prepares to celebrate Veterans Day, Governor Eddie Calvo left the island Wednesday morning to visit 600 of Guam's servicemen and women who are training at Camp Roberts in California.

Calvo told KUAM News, "So I'm there to give them that assurance that its not only this government but the people of Guam are behind them a 100 percent and they're in our prayers and we have total support for them, and while they are out there serving our island and our nation, we'll be there backing them up and helping their families as well."

The servicemen and women will be deployed to Afghanistan early next year. Governor Calvo is expected to return tonight.
